Claire Acton
Claire Acton is a PGY-4 in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto, and is currently completing a point-of-care ultrasound fellowship. She has been an ACLS instructor since 2014, with a special interest in point-of-care ultrasound as a resuscitative diagnostic tool.

Evelyn Dell
Evelyn Dell has been an ACLS instructor for 2 years and is a PGY4 FRCP Emergency Medicine resident at University of Toronto and is interested in trauma, resuscitation, and Indigenous health.

Debbie Gillis
Debbie Gillis BScN M Ed, has been an ACLS instructor since 2004 and BLS instructor trainer since 2008. She has significant experience in medical education using simulation and debriefing. Her role as an educator includes chairing the code blue committee, coordinating the resuscitation programs at a busy community teaching hospital and course directing ACLS programs. "High performing resuscitation teams are the outcome of great training and practice; I do my best to assist ACLS participants in becoming high performing team members"

Alana Hawley
Alana is an FRCP Emergency Medicine resident at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She has been an ACLS instructor since early 2015. She has a special interest in Wilderness Medicine and is currently completing her Wilderness Medicine fellowship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a candidate for both the Diploma in Mountain Medicine (DiMM) and the Fellowship of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine (FAWM). Alana also teaches Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS) and various courses for Wilderness Medical Associates. Personal interests include rock climbing, skiing, and dance.

Humberto Laranjo
Course Coordinator
Humberto Laranjo has been an Emergency Department Nurse since 2003 and has held a variety of positions including staff RN, Clinical educator in the Emergency Department, and has taught at York University and Mount Royal University. Humberto has been an ACLS instructor for a number of years and has delivered talks about ACLS at a few conferences. He has also been on the Board of Directors for the Emergency Nurses Association of Ontario

Carly Ng
Dr. Carly Ng is an emergency physician at University Health Network and Mt. Sinai Hospital. She attended medical school at Western University, and residency at the University of Toronto. She is a lecturer with the Department of Family and Community Medicine. She completed her ACLS instructor training in 2016.

Brenda Ridley
Brenda Ridley brings extensive experience to the ACLS Course Director role. She co-led the development of the ACLS program for UHN. Most recently at UHN she held the position of Senior Professional Practice Leader and before that she was the Advanced Practice Nurse Educator in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Cath Labs. Ms. Ridley teaches the High Acuity, Critical Care and Emergency Nursing Certificate programs in the School of Health Sciences, Continuing Education department at Humber College. Ms. Ridley earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ryerson University and a Master of Education from the University of Toronto. Additionally, Ms. Ridley holds CNA certification in Cardiovascular Nursing and is an ACLS Course Director and Instructor at UHN. She has just received her designation as a Certified Healthcare Educator in Simulation (CHSE).

Brendan Wood
Dr. Brendan Wood is currently a senior resident in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto and a Critical Care Clinical Associate at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. He has been teaching ACLS for 3 years and loves exploring the nuances of resuscitation from prehospital to the ER all the way to the ICU.

Adrian Wu
Dr. Adrian Wu is currently a Royal College Emergency Medicine resident at the University of Toronto. Prior to pursuing his M.D., Adrian studied at the Ivey School of Business (Western University). In his spare time, Adrian enjoys playing basketball, golf and spending time with his family and friends.
